Suyun ChoiVisiting Assistant Professor - WGSS

Suyun Choi is a PhD candidate in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Emory University. Her research interests center on the fields of gender, labor, migration and neoliberal governmentality. Her doctoral dissertation, “Going into Labor: Gender, Migration, and Neoliberal Lives in South Korea,” which won the 2018 Dissertation Award of the Association for Feminist Anthropology, examines how forces of neoliberal governance and migrant women’s desires simultaneously overlap and contest each other through the realms of work and intimacy in South Korea. Her recent work is forthcoming in Asian Journal of Women’s Studies
